Yes, it looks exciting. It looks like a fast climb. It is.
But it is not dangerous. Our instructor that will take you up is fully trained to cope with all eventualities.
If you would like the rush that comes with the acceleration of climbing over 1000 to 1300 feet (350 to 420 metres) at a 45 degree angle in about 30 seconds, this is for you. Even if you are a bit uncertain about that, you will love it! It will put a big grin on your face!
If the glider encounters a "thermal" of hot air it may climb to a greater height or stay airborne for longer. Thermals will more often be present during the middle of the day.
A typical flight where no thermals are found will be about 5 to 6 minutes.
If thermals are found, the flight may be extended to about 15 minutes.

This gives you a much longer flight. Weather permitting, we will climb up to 7000 feet above the coast, then switch engine off for peaceful gliding over one of the beautiful coasts of Australia.
If you are interested in having an extended time at flying the glider, this is for you. The instructor will explain the handling of the aircraft and you will be able to fly it for as much of the flight as you like (barring take off and landing!).
If you would like a longer flight with more time to enjoy the views, take some great photos, or would like to try the basics of flying as a prelude to learning to glide or learning to fly a power plane, this is the one for you,
Yes it is a glider. With the engine off, it glides just as well as our other twin seat pure gliders. With the engine in it is similar to a power plane.
Self launched glider flights will generally be between 45 minutes and an hour. If no thermals are found, we can switch the engine on and climb up again for more gliding.
